Brake Rotors for VW Beetle
If you have come to the conclusion that you need a new set of VW Beetle Brake Rotors, you may be asking yourself the question of whether to get them machined or simply replaced. Your rotors can become faulty for a number of reasons. On top of the list include warping and uneven thickness.
Both of these issues can technically be fixed by having your VW Beetle Brake Rotors machined, but it is not always the best decision. For one, machined brake rotors end up with less width than before the procedure.
This is because machining sheers off the top layer of the rotor. This reduced thickness and can lead to decreased strength, which will ultimately lead to bigger problems. This could cause your rotor to break or warp all over again, requiring you to purchase a new rotor anyway. Typically, brake rotors of today only have enough extra thickness to be machined once. After that, they will be too thin to adequately do the job. Even if your rotors have never been machined before, you still may want to consider simply replacing them. Machining rotors is a delicate procedure. If the mechanic is inexperienced, he can often make the functionality of the rotor worse. Of course, getting your rotor machined rather than replaced could save you a bit of money, so it is still worth considering. Just make sure you take the job to an experienced mechanic who knows what he is doing. And if you do decide to go ahead and get a new set of rotors, than you’ve come to the right place. Our VW Beetle Brake Rotors are OEM quality for maximum performance and durability.
