Brake Rotors for BMW 525
BMW 525 brake rotors, also referred to as brake discs, are metal discs found at each wheel of your car in an all-wheel brake system. Your 525 brake rotors serve to work with your brake pads and generate the friction your car uses to stop. BMW 525 brake rotors also act to keep your brakes clean by throwing off water and mud through centrifugal force.
Since most cars use softer organic brake pads in a disc braking system, your 525 brake rotors will typically last for a long time. However, if your car uses metallic brake pads, or if you do not change your brake pads when the lining is worn, you may damage your BMW 525 brake rotors.
It is important to keep track of your brake pads, because they are far less expensive and time-consuming to replace than your 525 brake rotors. The first warning sign that your brake pads need to be changed before they damage your BMW 525 brake rotors is often a squealing or squeaking noise that sounds as you are driving, but stops when you step on the brake pedal. This sound is generated by your brake pad sensors, which warn you when your pads are wearing down too thin to be effective. If you want your 525 brake rotors to last you a while, it is important that you do not ignore squeaking brakes. However, if the squeaking becomes grinding or shuddering, you have probably damaged your BMW 525 brake rotors as well.Remember that whenever you change your 525 brake rotors, you should also change your brake pads so that your new BMW 525 brake rotors remain protected for as long as possible.
